Banshees Bar & Artspace

Ipswich

Banshees Bar & Artspace is a cool, alternative Ipswich bar where you can have a drink and watch live music and performances surrounded by artworks.

Located in an understated building with a shop front style entrance, inside can be found a quirky collection of memorabilia, contemporary art and a bar with a wide variety of drinks on offer.

From the beautiful wooden floors, and low atmospheric lighting to the well lit bar, the atmosphere is very casual, friendly and welcoming and customers instantly feel at home.

At the back of the building is the magnificently backlit bar area, surrounded by eclectic furniture from chairs recycled from buses to a fully stocked bookshelf and comfortable armchair to relax in. On offer are delectable cocktails, shots and local craft beers from nearby breweries including the Four Hearts Brewing Company.  The drinks are reasonably priced, particularly the cocktail menu, which features a a chilli-flavoured signature cocktail and the cheesecake flavoured cocktail, which is also one to try.

The bar has a weekly open mic event and patrons are encouraged to take part in any kind of performance from readings, poetry, singing etc. The venue also welcomes bands/singers on a weekly basis, both local and touring groups, and if you wish to become more active in performing yourself, there is a weekly karaoke event on a Thursday evening, and more recently the introduction of a banjo workshop. Art connoisseurs can also enjoy art exhibitions which change monthly (bi-monthly) and are visible throughout the venue.
