Mrs J. Rabbits
Woolloongabba
Mrs J. Rabbits in Woolloongabba is Brisbane’s best secret hidden bar – a 1920's jazz speakeasy whose entrance is through an antique wardrobe of clothes.
Take the antique staircase inside Electric Avenue bar and bistro, turning left at the landing, up another flight and step through the closet straight into another era.

A window of bar stools overlooking the street is the only reminder that this is not the Roaring Twenties, otherwise it’s easy to think that you’ve just stepped right into a Prohibition Era time capsule.
Other seating includes a cosy corner lamp-lit booth overhung with an oriental parasol – a prime seat for couples and besties and leather armchairs and couches strewn with cow skin and tapestry cushions. A piano provides the live entertainment on Friday nights and on Saturdays a DJ spins some smooth jazz and blues.

Oriental rugs, candles in vintage teacups, art deco chandeliers, a wall of grandfather clocks, vintage spoons, masks and antique paraphernalia are scattered around the room whose centrepiece is a stunning pressed metal bar.
Here’s the place to enjoy an extraordinary array of premium whiskeys from around the globe (including NZ, Japan, Australian, Irish, Canadian, French and Scottish) and also available are spirits and an impressive selection of wines.
Food-wise, Bar Snacks from Electric Avenue are available and these include Beer Nut Mix, XO Corn, Pork Crackling, Tennessee Hot Chicken and a House Burger.
The menu may have changed since our visit.
