Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

For over 70 years, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has been a highlight of Gold Coast family holidays, from its early days as Currumbin Bird Sanctuary to the world class zoological attraction that it has become today.

While the famous lorikeet-feeding sessions that quickly lured visitors from far and wide are still happening twice a day, there is so much more to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary that you could easily spend a day here and not do everything. In fact this is one outing where you'll want to bring the grandparents along too, so they can relive their own childhood visits and marvel at the myriad of experiences and activities on offer.

Known for its animal encounters, here at the sanctuary you'll meet an incredible array of Australian wildlife - cuddle a koala, pat a kangaroo, take an interactive walk through the aviaries and get as close to Boss Hog the 5m crocodile as you dare.

You can also take a journey of discovery through the 5 acres of stunning rainforest in the Lost Valley, a forgotten world where you can immerse yourself in a land that existed millions of years ago.

Along the way you can get up close to exotic species including Lemurs, Cotton-top Tamarins, Red Panda, and Capybaras along with free-flying birds and rare reptiles.

With lots of great daily shows and encounters, there’s a heap fun and entertainment for everyone. Watch Wild Skies Free Flight Bird Show, see the Pelican and Eel Feeding or dance long at Blinky Bill’s Backyard Show.

After getting amongst all the wildlife, kids can go wild themselves at the amazing Wild Island Adventure Playground. Set amongst a stunning landscape of sub-tropical flora and fauna, it’s the perfect spot for parents/carers to relax and watch the kids play.

And that's not all. You can also watch the sanctuary's vets in action at one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world and learn about conservation. The Sanctuary participates in 16 conservation projects to help save these species from extinction.

Need to know - With 27 hectares of wide open space there is plenty of room for social distancing and for guests to feel at ease while enjoying the lush surrounds. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is located just 300m from Currumbin Beach and is just a one hour drive from Brisbane and 30 minutes drive from Surfers Paradise.
