Summer Festival
State Library of Queensland
State Library of Queensland’s Summer Festival is a jam-packed schedule of fun and adventure for all ages, running throughout the school holidays from December 14 - January 25.
There’s plenty for families and kids to discover, whether that be building, writing, singing, dancing, creating or exploring.

Under 8s will love making their own wrapping paper and gift tags, while older kids can build robot racers, join a scavenger hunt, take Manga illustration classes or writing workshops. Teens can join a facilitated Dungeons & Dragons workshop or make personalised objects to take home using hi-tech gadgets such as a laser cutter and 3D printer.

Other highlights include musical performances from Play School’s Lucas Proudfoot, Rainbow Serpent storytelling with Nana Magic, and a virtual reality workshop. Visitors can also learn to write a book in three hours, plus create lampshades, pillowcases, stickers and badges as part of the ‘Mod your Space’ activity.

Families won’t want to miss the Summer Night at the State Library event on December 20. For $20 per family, guests can experience the magic of the library after dark, and partake in hands-on activities, storytelling and music. Bookings are essential.
Need to know - Summer Festival includes free drop-in activities for all ages, though some workshops are ticketed and bookings are required for these. Please check the website for details and bookings.
