Find out more about the science behind train travel, challenge friends & family, solve puzzles and explore the world of science through play with over 20 interactive stations at The Workshops Rail Museum's new Sciencentre (for all ages).

Train Simulators

Children of all ages can step inside the diesel or tilt train simulators and see if they have what it takes to be a train driver.

Model Railway

Kids can watch trains whizz around the amazing 90m2 model railway layout of Queensland, depicting iconic scenes from the state's extensive network (all ages).

Nippers Railway

In this fantastic train-themed adventure play area, kids aged 2-10 yrs can get to climb aboard a kid-sized train and play at being a train driver, move and control signals and boom gates at level crossings, sell tickets at central station, or chill out at the play tables and build their own network from the wooden railway sets.

Bush Mechanics - The Exhibition

Children can get inspired by the rough and ready inventiveness used to keep cars running in outback Australia, and try their hand at the 'nyurulypa' (tricks) with the outback simulator.

And once they've had all of the fun to be had inside, they can take a miniature train ride around the Museum grounds (until Jan 27). $3 per ticket, $10 grp of 4.
