Steam Train Sunday
Roma Street
All aboard the vintage steam train on Steam Train Sunday - a trip for the young and young-at-heart, that departs Roma Street for a one hour (approx) nostalgic ride around Brisbane.
Inside the carriages exists a bygone era of elegance and style in rail travel, with polished wood panels and brass and iron luggage racks, while some contain the old lamp lit compartments with black and white pictures on the walls.
As well as the décor, the scenery is worth a look as the train chugs its way for an hour around Brisbane passing through heritage-listed stations, modern state of the art ones and even the odd abandoned ghost station as well as historic rail bridges and river crossings before returning to Roma Street. Passengers are free to move between carriages, take in the sights from the charming carriage balconies and wave to onlookers.
Need to know - Footwear is essential. Collapsible strollers only permitted on board.
Train trip remaining dates for 2018: Dec 2
Nice to know - Discounts are available for Annual Pass Holders of the Workshops Rail Museum.
