School Holiday History Tour
Boggo Road Gaol
Lock the kids up this school holiday at Brisbane’s infamous Boggo Road Gaol on a fascinating History Tour – this spring's must-do family-friendly experience - with a special offer for Must Do Brisbane readers (scroll down to see).
Steeped in over 100 years of colourful history, Boggo Road Gaol is Australia’s most notorious prison where tens of thousands of men and women served time behind its red-brick walls.
One of Brisbane's most intriguing and culture-enriched heritage sites, Boggo Road Gaol offers all-ages interactive tours of the historic gaol at 11am daily during school holidays. Walk through the gatehouse, exercise yards, the 'circle' and two of the original cell blocks, and discover what life was like behind bars for inmates.
Hear true stories of rooftop protests, riots, hunger strikes and daring escape plans including those of legendary Slim Halliday, the Houdini of Boggo Road, and Tripod the three-legged prison cat. Kids will be transported back in time as they ring the gaol bell and converse through the walls of the visitors' centre.
Boggo Road Gaol will also be running their Gallows Exhibition at 12.45 pm every day over the school holidays.
Boggo Road Gaol is conveniently located directly adjacent to Park Road Train Station and Boggo Road Bus Station. Travelling via the Cleveland, Beenleigh or Gold Coast lines, Boggo Road Gaol is as easily accessible by public transport as it is via car or coach.
Nice to know - SPECIAL OFFER - If the kids mention Must Do Brisbane, they will receive a free 'Tripod', the Jail Cat poster.
