SABOTAGE SOCIAL HAS CLOSED AND WILL REOPEN AS THE HOTEL CARRINGTON IN SECOND HALF OF 2019.
Sabotage Social is like that elusive urban bar you’re always looking for but can never find.
Then miraculously one day you stumble upon it on the cusp of the Valley, carved out of the shell of an ex-Chinese restaurant in a character-laden historic building.
Here, behind some studded wooden doors, presided over by a portrait of heavy rock royalty the Beastie Boys is a bar that evokes the lost spirit of the Valley – a spacious dim lit underground whisky and cocktail lounge with a secret backyard.
Chesterfield couches, exposed patches of rustic brick peeping out under rendered concrete, wicked cocktails named Freddie Mercury, a chandelier of crystal whisky decanters and black and white photos of a lost Valley when trams, Victorian pubs and art deco department stores ruled set the scene inside. Meanwhile out back is a brick and stencil art courtyard featuring a rustic brick archway, pot plants, strings of coloured lights and tiny scrap of sky.
Taking centre stage behind the stunning back lit bar inside is a royal box of whisky and fresh fruit infused vodka on tap from glass urns. Top shelf whisky, bourbon and other spirits , wines and boutique beers add to the mix and the succinct but delish menu of tapas/antipasto bar food is served on skateboards.
Need to know: Every day is free dress day at Sabotage Social, where the mantra is make yourself at home-away-from-home.
