Opera In The Vineyard

Opera in the Vineyard returns to beautiful Ballandean Estate on the Granite Belt for a thrilling opera performance in a stunning Southern Queensland country setting on Sunday, May 5.
Set amongst the picturesque vineyards at Ballandean, attendees can expect a captivating performance by acclaimed mezzo-soprano. Milijana Nikolic, and her husband, international tenor Rosario La Spina.
Serbian-born Milijana is a femme fatale blessed with a voice that oozes elegance and passion. Her most recent performances include the title role in Carmen for Opera Australia, Amneris for Seattle Opera and Opera Australia, and Jane Seymour (Anna Bolena) for The Metropolitan Opera New York.
Australian-born Rosario, who trained at La Scala, won first prize in the Mario Del Monaco International Opera Competition and made his principal role debut at La Scala as Riccardo (Oberto). He’s since performed in leading roles in the Italian and French repertoire around the world.
This dynamic duo will be joined on stage by a pianist on grand piano, as they perform a program of songs ranging from iconic tenor arias to glorious melodies from operetta - complemented by musical insights, personal stories, and a few surprises.
Event founder and Ballandean Estate patriarch, Angelo Puglisi, is looking forward to the 27th Opera in the Vineyards event which has raised over $1 million for charity in partnership with Rotary Stanthorpe. “It’s a great way to be introduced to opera with a celebration of Granite Belt food and wine,” says Angelo.
Nice to know - This year's theme is Diamonds Are Forever so dress to impress in black die, evening gowns and sparkling accessories.
