Obsessed: Compelled to make
The Workshops Rail Museum
Obsessed: Compelled to make is a fascinating exhibition at The Workshops Rail Museum which explores the creativity of makers.
On display until August 4, this exhibition from the Australian Design Centre follows the stories of 14 Australian artists and delves into the processes, practices and passions that fuel their art.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to get to know each maker beyond their personality and discover the fundamental framework of their creations - their obsessions and all the associated angst, failures, breakthroughs and milestones that feeds their productivity and delivers exceptional outcomes.
According to Queensland Museum Network CEO Dr Jim Thompson “The creative process is fundamentally human, and by uncovering these artists’ inspirations, day-to-day experiences, expertise and obsessions, we gain a deeper understanding of what it is that drives creativity within us all".
To celebrate the opening of Obsessed: Compelled to make, local street artist Ian McCallum was commissioned to paint a mural within the gallery space; while young visitors inspired by the exhibition wil be able to get hands-on with an in-gallery Maker Space providing educational and creative activities.
Nice to know - Obsessed: Compelled to make is included with Museum entry.
