Momani’s is one of Brisbane’s most unique restaurants – serving exquisite Middle Eastern dishes within the glamorous old world setting of Milton’s heritage-listed Cook Terraces.

Step inside the beautifully preserved 19th century terrace house to find a grand entry hall leading to a gorgeous high-ceilinged dining room with polished floor boards, pressed metal ceilings, marble fireplaces, chandeliers and white linen clothed tables.

From there either take the grand wooden staircase up to the splendid upstairs bar for a pre-dinner drink (you can also dine up here) or head straight in to the restaurant.

Once seated you’ll be treated to an absolute feast inspired by Mediterranean Grandma’s cooking, starting with a delectable range of cold and hot Mezzeh. The idea here is always to have several plates on the table to share and graze on.

From the cold mezzah, there’s traditional bread and dips such as hummus, tzatziki, baba ghanoush and Muhamara (roast capsicum with walnuts, pomegranate, molasses and chilli), along with olives (plain or spiced) and dolma (vine-leave wraps).

Hot mezzeh include Hummus bi labne (finely sliced marinated lamb with hummus) or grilled aubergine blended with tahini, lamb mince and tomato sauce.

A house specialty is the kebab (chicken, lamb, vegetarian, beef or mixed grill) served with rice and Lebanese bread, which goes down a treat with one of the delicious salads - try the Shirazi (a salsa style Persian salad) or Momani’s fattoush, the house specialty based on grandma’s recipe.

For mains, choices include Iranian dished such as Jeweled rice (saffron rice with barberries, carrot and tangerine) and Gheymah (yellow lentils and beef braised with dried limes, turmeric and fragrant rice mix topped with slivers of golden fried potato, with side of basmati rice) and another Grandma’s recipe – Momani’s Kofta (meatballs with yellow lentils, rice, apricot and herbs in a tomato based sauce).

Desserts are every bit as scrumptious as the savoury offerings at Momani’s – recommended are the Baklava and Persian love cake (fragrant rich cake with saffron, cardamom, almonds and lemon glaze, topped with pistachios and rose petals).

Momani’s Milton

In a nutshell – Middle Eastern and Mediterranean soul food from Grandma’s kitchen served in one of Brisbane’s most charming heritage settings.

Nice to know - Momani's has great value banquets, perfect for groups, for just $45 (vegetarian) or $59.*

Need to know – There’s plenty of free parking in the car park adjacent and in the basement of next door apart-hotel Cosmo (call beforehand to get the parking code). The Milton Rivercat stop is also just across the road.
