John Birmingham On Father

Brisbane Powerhouse

Famed Brisbane-born writer John Birmingham pays homage to "the best man I've ever known" in On Father at Brisbane Powerhouse on Apr 16.

A unique yet universal story, On Father reaches out to everyone who has experienced and survived deep grief.

When John's father died his life fell apart. He spent the next six months tramping through the dark forests of depression until he finally emerged out of the darkness onto sunlit upland.

John Birmingham has written for Rolling Stone, Playboy, Long Bay Prison News, Quarterly Essay and The Monthly. His published works include He Died With A Falafel In His Hand and Leviathan: The Unauthorised Biography of Sydney. He started writing airport novels because they were more fun.

Nice to know - On Father is based on John's newly-released book of the same name.
