The Government House Estate will be open to the public for a special Open Day on Saturday 27 August as part of the 2022 Brisbane Open House program. The Vice-Regal gates will be open from 11am to 3pm, with guided House and Garden Tours running throughout the day.

Government House, Brisbane

These tours, run by knowledgeable guides, are a wonderful way to explore the Fernberg Estate - one of Queensland's most prestigious heritage-listed working households.

Government House, Brisbane

Government House, built in 1865, was one of the first houses in Paddington. It has served as the home and workplace of Queensland Governors since 1910, undergoing several renovations and extensions over the years to accommodate for the demands of a Vice-Regal Estate.

Visitors will be able to view the Investiture Room, Foyer, State Entrance and the State Dining Room, in which the table setting for Her Majesty The Queen’s 1954 visit to Queensland will be recreated in honour of our Monarch’s Platinum Jubilee.

This is a free event; however, visitors are strongly encouraged to pre-register to secure their preferred House and/or Garden Tour times.

House Tours depart every 15 minutes, between 11.15am- 2.30pm, from the Lower House Lawn - 30mins duration. House Tours are wheelchair and pram accessible.

Garden Tours depart on the hour from Her Majesty The Queen's statue, at 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.15pm and 2.15pm - 45 minutes duration. These tours involve extensive walking and demand a moderate level of fitness. Unfortunately, Garden Tours are not wheelchair accessible. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat are highly recommended.
