The Golf Spot

Salisbury

THE GOLF SPOT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN 2018.

The Golf Spot is Brisbane’s first indoor golf centre – a one-of-a-kind place where golfers of all ages and abilities can tee off on 86 world renowned golf courses in air-conditioned comfort.

Dining area and golf booths

The brainchild of a keen golfer and his family, The Golf Spot occupies a ground floor space in a Salisbury commercial building and consists of a free putting course and three separate partitioned ‘booths’ where up to 6 people can play an entire virtual golf game on HD golf simulation software in each.

Not only is it a great alternative to slugging it out on an 18 hole course in searing heat, it’s also the perfect express and no-fuss way to brush up on golf skills by day or night.

Sessions are booked hourly and, if only 2 people are playing this should be enough time to complete 18 holes. Otherwise the game can be saved until next time. The way it works is that the player/s select a world golf course they’d like to play – anywhere from St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Royal Melbourne or Oakmont Country Club – and one of 36 modes of play, then embark on playing the entire virtual course (which is projected onto a giant screen), bunkers and all, from the one sensor-receptive teeing off spot.

In-floor sensors react to a player's swing and send the ball on an on-screen trajectory, and after it lands, the stats of each shot pop up on screen.

One of the 3 set-ups also has a mini golf course suited for little golfers, with a fairytale course set in an enchanted countryside, complete with fairgrounds.

Players can bring their own clubs, or, for no extra charge use one of the in-house sets. And at any time they can practise their putting on the mock-up green, for no extra cost.

There’s also an in-house café (awaiting a license) that serves coffee, cold drinks, a small range of pies, sausage rolls, toasties, fresh cut sandwiches and cookies, while a big screen in the café area televises major sporting tournaments.

Seating and counter in cafe

In a nutshell – The Golf Spot makes a great, social and convenient alternative to slugging it out on a golf course, with the bonus of ‘playing’ some of the world’s best golf courses. Suited to small groups, single players or families and makes a great intro to golf for kids or a gift for a golf fanatic.

Need to know – There’s plenty of free off street parking around the building off the Evans Rd side.

Nice to know- If you feel like a spot of golf outside opening hours, Golf Spot will attempt to accommodate you.
