Gladiators After Dark
Queensland Museum
Gladiators After Dark gives adults a unique chance to view Gladiators: Heroes of the Colosseum by night at the Queensland Museum, with glass of wine in hand, fascinating talks, live entertainment and no children.
The Australian exclusive international touring exhibition features more than 110 artefacts, interactive games and displays to reveal who gladiators were, where they lived and how they trained. Amongst the archaeological treasures are actual pieces of the Colosseum, elaborately decorated bronze gladiator helmets and original arms and armour preserved in the ashes of Pompeii.
A program of live entertainment includes demonstrations of medical implements, pasta-making, an active history lesson, roving gladiators and a DJ spinning cool tunes throughout.
Scheduled talks throughout the evening include ‘Animal Hunts and Acrobats in the Later Roman Arena’ with Amelia Brown and ‘Consulting the Bones’ with Damien Fegan and Linc Morse.
Meanwhile food and drink will be available to purchase onsite.
Need to know – This is a strictly 18 years+ event. ID may be requested. Gladiators After Dark is on Dec 1.
Nice to know – Gladiators After Dark visitors have the run of the entire museum, including the Sciencentre. Togas optional.
