Freja’s Café

Wilston

FREJA'S CAFE CLOSED IN DECEMBER 219 TO BE REPLACED BY A DEGUSTATION RESTAURANT ELSKA'S BY THE SAME OWNERS.

Freja’s Café, located in the heart of Wilston, is serving up the most beautiful, enchanting and most importantly, tasty plates to local diners.

This dog-friendly café is tucked away on the corner of Macgregor Street and Kedron Brook Road. With the majority of dining being al fresco, there’s also a few places for window seating inside the eatery. The fresh, minimalist décor is fitting of it’s simple and modern menu that utilises local and very high-quality produce.

With a seasonal influence, there are an array of dishes to suit a variety of diners, each with a breakfast vibe. The avocado is naturally a popular choice, but let us tell you this is no normal avo on toast. Served with beetroot, pepper berry goats cheese, spring flowers, rye and balsamic, it’s quite the unique and delicious dish that Freja’s is all about.

If you’re a lover of mushrooms definitely order the field mushrooms. This enchanting bowl is filled with mushrooms, a ball of potato rosti, asparagus, sous vide egg and a wild rice crumble. It’s as heavenly as it looks. there's also sweet stuff like pina colada panna cotta, strawberry hotcakes with lavendar and balsamic ice-cream, and exotic dishes like Chilli crab croissant and Moroccan fritters (zucchini and pistachio fritter with baba ghanoush, Moroccan braised lamb, labna and fried egg).

Lunch style items include pumpkin gnocchi, Danish salmon and chicken salad. The café also has a selection of freshly baked treats adorning the counter top, which are all made fresh in house. Except for the croissants, which are sourced directly from France. Because who does a croissant better than the French?

Freja’s serves up Seven Miles coffee (roasted in Newstead), along with a selection of Mayde teas. They also freshly squeeze their own juice, which are quite the refresher on a typical hot, Queensland day. The lychee, apple and orange is quite the delight.

Need to know – nearby street parking is available. Dogs are welcome.

Nice to know – owned by a couple - Freja runs the front of house, whilst her partner Nathan runs the kitchen.
