Copperface Jacks

West End

COPPERFACE JACKS HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Copperface Jacks in West End is where warm Irish hospitality and top notch contemporary pub food meet in a gorgeous setting on a street corner.

Irish owner of Copperface Jacks, Brendan has created a homey ‘local’ where the staff know your name - the kind of place to pop in for weekend brunch, a Guinness in the beer garden, date night on the candlelit terrace or to celebrate a birthday in one of the leather booths with a gang of family or friends.

There are no craic signs, leprechauns or Irish flags here at Copperface Jacks, where stunning street art adorns the walls in the main dining area (overlooked by Irish icons U2 and Oscar Wilde) and outside in the beer garden bar.

A cracking menu has a taste of Ireland thrown in – Sea Scallops and Black Pudding, Kilkenny Beer Battered Onion Rings, Guinness Mousse (a must try!) and breakfast of Black Pudding with potato and carrot hash – and there’s Guinness on tap at the bar, with the rest a melee of fantastic Mod Oz cuisine.

Open for breakfast from 7am on weekdays and weekend brunch (from 10am), on the menu are Bacon and Eggs, Avocado Smash, Eggs Benedict, Vegetarian Breakfast Stack or Pancake Stack (Sweet or Savoury) and Irish-themed specials the Black Pudding or the Coppers Fry Up – Egg, Bacon, Spinach, Field Mushrooms, Chorizo and Black Pudding.

Bar snacks, available from 11.30, are substantial and delicious – try the Onion Rings (in the chef’s own Kilkenny Beer Batter or the bucket of Chicken Wings (Buffalo with Blue Cheese sauce or Southern Fried with chipotle sauce or Chipotle BBQ with BBQ sauce).

Drinks-wise, Kilkenny and Guinness are on tap, served by the pint, along with a selection of craft beers (including One Fifty Lashes, Green Beacon Wayfarer USA and Stone & Wood Pacific or Jasper Ale), Hahn Super Dry, XXXX Gold and Somersby Apple Cider by the schooner.

Need to know – Copperface Jacks makes a great place to host a function, with self-contained 3 spaces (Copper’s Main Bar, The Snug and Jack’s Beer Garden ) to choose from and free room hire.

Nice to know – Dogs are welcome, with bowls of water provided at the beer garden and outside the main bar/dining entrance.
