Brisbane's biggest cultural festival, BrisAsia Festival 2023 returns with a stellar program of events across 12 suburbs to celebrate the Lunar New Year and Brisbane's rich Asian cultural heritage, from February 1-19.

This year's program features more than 27 unique experiences by 400+ artists and creatives, from Lunar New Year parties and celebrations to exhibitions, live music and dance events, workshops, comedy, and culinary experiences.

A highlight of the festival is the spectacular BrisAsia Festival Launch Party at the iconic Fortitude Music Hall, featuring traditional and contemporary performances, lion dancers and martial arts displays, Sydney-based KPOP DJ Nick Kim, local drag sensation Crimson Coco and much more.

This year will offer some fantastic new experiences including Soul Gazing: A Journey through the Cosmic Skydome at the Mt Coot-tha Observatory, a new esports competition with the inaugural Team Bliss Community Cup and the BrisAsia Pop-Up Exhibition: Youth with You.

Popular events returning from last year are Southside by Night, a hip hop, luxury car and food truck event featuring internationally renowned DJ Kuya, JDMs, Supercars, Euros, and Laneway Partea, BrisAsia's dedicated tea festival.

Also back this year is digital food documentary Mother’s Table, and this time you can meet the restauranteurs and taste their sensational food. Valentine’s Day concert BrisAsia Love Songs returns to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the cutting-edge creative residency BrisAsia LIVE 2023 will feature internationally renowned Mongolian musician Bukhu.

Another fabulous event is Sunnybank’s premier Lunar New Year Rooftop Party, with exciting cultural experiences for the whole family to enjoy. The entire Sunnybank Plaza rooftop carpark will be transformed into a celebration reminiscent of a traditional lantern festival, complete with live music, entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display.

BrisAsia Festival Producer, Dr Anthony Garcia, encourages people from all walks of life to experience what the Festival has to offer.
“BrisAsia Festival shares unique cultural stories through a mix of live performance, digital programming, discussion forums, outdoor family events and ritual cultural festivities all aligned to celebrate the Lunar New Year,” he said.
