Bluewater Festival 2016

Sandgate

Bluewater Festival 2016 is a big bayside drawcard on the Easter calendar, with a weekend long programme of festivities headlined by the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

As part of the family friendly festival, the picturesque Sandgate-Shorncliffe foreshore, galleries and social venues will be hosting art trails and exhibitions, live music, entertainment and food stalls in the park, a bayfire night and lantern parade.

Bayside Art Trail

Thursday night’s festival launch puts the northern bayside’s finest artists and photographers under the spotlight at the ‘4017 Bayside Art Trail’, with pop-up galleries along the way affording attendees the opportunity to speak with and watch the artists work as well as acquiring some original affordable art. Mar 24 6-9pm then Mar 25, 26 9-4 and Mar 27 9-2.

Bluewater Bayfire Night

Get into with the festivities of the most popular night on the calendar at Upper Moora Park, with multicultural food stalls, carnival rides and entertainment, a lantern parade at 6.15 and the Bayfire Fireworks at 7.30. From 4pm.

Bluewater Festival Friday

Saving the biggest Bluewater event for Good Friday, the day starts with early morning yoga on the beach at 8am, and the official re-opening of the restores Shorncliffe Pier at 9am before taking up position to view the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race at 11am. The rest of the day sees ongoig free live music and entertainment including The Kangagang kids show from 12-1, roving entertainers, markets and food stalls and rides.

.Need to know: For safety reasons public BBQ will not be operational on Mar 24 & 25 in Upper and Lower Moora Parks. A good option is to leave the car behind and take the train to Sandgate or Shorncliffe Stations.
