Atelier Brasserie

Bowen Hills

UPDATE: PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN EARLY DECEMBER 2019

Atelier Brasserie is a contemporary Euro-chic restaurant and wine bar located within the old Brisbane Showgrounds precinct at King St, Bowen Hills.

A surprise package within this largely casual eat street, Atelier Brasserie takes dining to a new level with its exquisite food, not to mention being a stylish place for a luscious cocktail or glass of premium wine, beer or spirits.

Nab a seat on the breezy outdoor terrace or the moodily lit interior with its blue-velvet-backed banquettes, backlit tiled bar and hanging copper lights.

The concise and simple menu takes inspiration from France, Spain, Italy and the Middle East, while the carefully curated wine list features boutique wines from Australia, NZ, Austria, Portugal, France, Macedonia, Italy and Spain.

For entrees there’s the likes of eggplant and mozzarella mille-feuille, salty cod croquette, lamb cigar with smoky baba ghanoush and house made goat’s cheese, melt-in-the-mouth citrus king fish ceviche and delectable saffron and Moreton Bay bug ravioli.

Highly recommended from the mains are the stuffed calamari with braised capsicum and the Duck Maryland confit, with other choices including market fish, house-made gnocchi and lamb saddle, celeriac and pea a la francaise.

And for dessert, there’s a choice of divine rhubarb and lavender mille-feuille, baklava and Turkish delight sorbet, crème brulee and almond and fennel tart.

Just like the food the cocktails at Atelier Brasserie are next level – try the Pharmaceutical Stimulant (666 Butter vodka, kahlua, Little Drippa cold drip coffee and popcorn infused syrup) or the Manhattan Transfer (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, vanilla, black walnut bitters and Luxado cherries).

More than an evening wining and dining destination, Atelier is also a great spot for a casual lunch in the European tradition. Pop in for an open sandwich (with fillings changing daily) or, for something more substantial, garlic, parsley and lemon-crusted pork cottaletta with fries and salad, both with optional glass of wine or beer for an extra $5. Otherwise there’s also a cheese and charcuterie platter to share.

Need to know - Limited street parking available nearby. Atelier Brasserie can be found adjacent to the Bavarian Beerhaus and next door to Welcome to Bowen Hills.
