opera in the reservoir

The Underground Opera Company’s Death and Desire will fill Brisbane’s 'Underground Opera House' with powerful arias, enchanting ensemble pieces and stunning duets.
The Spring Hill Reservoir is Brisbane's most unique performance space - a series of vaulted caverns 6 metres underground with amazing acoustics and gothic hand-laid brick arches.
The adventure begins at the entrance, as guests venture six metres below Wickham Terrace into the 150-year-old reservoir, which up until 50 years ago, supplied Brisbane its water.
Guests can enjoy a glass of wine at the tiny wine bar before taking their seats in the intimate space for a night to remember.
A stellar cast features the world class talents of Louise Dorsman, Dominique Fegan, Douglas McRae and Glenn Lorimer, accompanied by UOC's incredible pianist Mark Connors.
Performances are on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 1:30pm.
Need to know – Entry is via a metal staircase (stiletto heels not suitable). There is street parking available nearby and Wickham Terrace secure parking station approximately 150 metres away with parking for $5 after 4:30pm (leave before 5:30am next day) Monday to Friday, and $5 all day and evening of Saturdays and Sundays.
Nice to know - For more information on this and upcoming shows at the Spring Hill Reservoir this year, visit the Underground Opera Company’s website.
