Van Morrison's Masterpieces
Qpac
QPAC's Concert Hall will resonate with the songs of one of the world's most well-known artists, Van Morrison, on January 6, and you won't want to miss a beat.
The music of R&B and soul legend, Van Morrison - or Van the Man, as some like to call him - translates through the generations, carrying with it timeless narratives of love and life-inspired journeys.
Two of his classics, Gloria (early 1960s) and Brown-Eyed Girl (1967) were the precursor to his 1968 album, Astral Weeks, that went on to become one of his most renowned. Closely following was Moondance (1970) which cemented Morrison as an up-and-coming star, and influenced many aspiring musicians across the globe, including Scottish-born Australian, Vince Jones.
With more than 20 albums to his name, Vince Jones is a much-applauded performer across the International and Australian jazz, rock and rhythm and blues scene, and he seamlessly translates and adapts his sultry style to pay homage to Van's Astral Weeks and Moondance albums.
Teaming up with the top picking of our country's best jazz, soul and rock music artists, and under the acclaimed musical directorship of Matt McMahon, Vince Jones and The Astral Orchestra will be performing Van Morrison's Masterpieces for one night only on Saturday January 6 in QPAC's Concert Hall.
This night of musicality brings two legendary sounds together - the lyrics and music of Van Morrison with the velvet voice of Vince Jones - and the audience is guaranteed to be tapping their toes and enjoying the dance down memory lane.
