Undressed: 350 Years Of Underwear In Fashion
Qld Museum
Undressed: 350 years of Underwear in Fashion is a fascinating peek into the secret history of almost four centuries of underwear from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
It is also a chronological testament to the evolution of underwear as a response to the changing attitudes of society regarding beauty, modesty and the fashionable female form of the time.
Encompassing everything from the harsh restrictiveness of 16th century corsetry, through the modesty of Victorian era (including Queen Victoria’s drawers), from the avant-garde daring of 20th century fashion icons Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier and Versace to the miracle revolution of the Wonderbra, all is revealed at Undressed.
And in a coup for Brisbane visitors to the exhibition, of the more than 80 undergarments displayed here, it is also the first time that many of them have shown to the public.
After Dark – On December 5th, experience Undressed:350 Years of Fashion in a special After Dark session (18+only), with cocktails, gourmet treats, DJ’s, roaming burlesque performers, local lingerie designer showcase and live art/fashion installation by QUT Fashion Industry Performers.
