Treasury Turns 20
Celebrations
The Treasury turns 20 this month and, whether a hotel guest, foodie, late night diner or casino regular, all of Brisbane is invited to join in the celebrations.
The city is fortunate to have this amazing hub of entertainment in such gracious and historic surroundings, which were originally the Treasury Building (built 1889) and the Land Administration Building (built 1893). From being at the centre of much governmental action in their first century, they now house the world-class Treasury Hotel – which saw some G20 delegates enjoy its comforts a few months ago and regularly hosts international celebrities – and a buzzing precinct that gives punters a premium gaming experience, entertainment, restaurant and bar facilities.
To mark its big birthday, The Treasury will hold some special celebrations, including two exclusive cocktail events for 148 founding Team Members who’ll have plenty to celebrate thanks to their two decades of service. And just so everyone can join in the fun, if you happen to have your birthday in April, pop along to any of the Treasury’s restaurants on that day and have a meal on the house. (Terms and conditions apply here.)
There’s also the special promotion, Plenty for Twenty, throughout April * Plenty of what, you ask? Food and drink, that’s what. There’ll be a range of $20 specials that’ll please everyone. Check this out for starters – two bowls of Luke Nguyen’s signature dish, Fat Pho Noodles, for just $20 at his Fat Noodle restaurant.
You could try a delicious weekday lunch to help going back to work in the afternoon just a bit more bearable, a pre-theatre cheese board or even a to-die-for dessert platter. The lab bar + restaurant is serving up a dessert tasting plate of its most popular dishes – if you can’t drool at the thought of lemon tart, chocolate marquis, mango coconut mousse, macron and sorbet all on one plate, you’re just not trying! For the same amazing price of $20, Kitchen at Treasury will serve you 20 finger lickin’ sticky BBQ chicken wings.
Then there are the Treasury’s bars. Uberchic cocktail bar, The Kitty, will have a chef’s selection of Australian cheeses with fresh honeycomb and quince paste, served with a glass of North of South Sauvignon Blanc or Bossa Barossa Shiraz, while Ryan’s on the Park Bar goes southern-style with fried chicken, fresh slaw, dipping sauce and either of the two mentioned wines or a Hahn Super Dry. Again, the price is a great-value $20.
While you’re there wining, dining and possibly gaming, take the time to drink in the beautiful buildings themselves. Brisbane isn’t known for having a great record keeping its historical heirlooms intact, so pay homage to the smart decision to restore and adapt rather than resorting to the bulldozers as has been the unfortunate ending to so many other of Brisbane’s buildings. In other words it’s time to treasure The Treasury!
The offer is valid until April 30th.
