Single Asian Female

Single Asian Female, Michelle Law’s sassy, smash-hit comedy about family, returns to La Boite Theatre from February 16 to March 9, 2019. 

Quirky, well-written and full of Michelle’s trademark dry wit, Single Asian Female was an instant hit with audiences and critics alike when it premiered at La Boite in 2017. The play followed up with a sold-out season at Sydney’s Belvoir in 2018.

Set in a suburban Sunshine Coast Chinese restaurant, the story follows the Wong family and its whip-smart women, as they deal with some of life’s big questions and explore what it’s like to be an Asian female in Australia.

Original cast members Emily Burton, Patrick Jhanur, Courtney Stewart and Hsiao-Ling Tang will reprise their roles for the encore season, along with newcomer Tatum Mottin (Lysa and the Freeborn Dames). And Michelle Law also makes her La Boite mainstage debut - returning to star in the 2019 production!

Todd MacDonald, La Boite’s CEO and Artistic Director, said there is already a big buzz around the insightful, hilarious play returning to Brisbane. If you missed it the first time, make sure you book early for this one!
