The Refuge Of Rhythm

Brisasia Festival

If you love world music, you’re sure to revel in the musical event, The Refuge of Rhythm, as part of the BrisAsia Festival, at Brisbane City Hall.

The concert features collaborations between some of the best musical and visual artists of Brisbane, with the result being an amazing tapestry of innovative performances with the performance’s foundations firmly grounded in Asian traditions.

The Refuge of Rhythm will be a feast for the ears and eyes, with the music being complemented by visuals including projections from live movement, painting, and even shadow puppetry through the Indonesian Wayang shadow puppet tradition which conveys epic stories of human spirituality. It promises to be a very special evening.

The Refuge of Rhythm

For the fifth time, Brisbane will come alive with the annual BrisAsia Festival showcasing traditional and contemporary Asian arts and cultural events, including some delicious food. With over 80 events across the city during the three weeks, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Presented by Brisbane City Council and produced by the Multicultural Development Association, the festival also features the Folds of Belonging Exhibition in the Vibrant Laneways Outdoor Gallery. Here you can see work from acclaimed artists from Pakistan, Japan, Thailand and Eurasia.
