Reclaiming The Spirit

St Marys Anglican Church Kangaroo Pt

A special musical treat celebrating musical women, both past and present, is on show at Reclaiming the Spirit, to celebrate International Women's Day at St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point, on Friday, 11 March at 7.30pm.

And if you're at the Sunshine Coast or Byron Bay, the same concert will be performed on Saturday, 12 and Sunday, 13 March respectively. See here for more details.

Muses Trio will perform a variety of works from female composers, including 19th century composer and pianist, Clara Schumann - composer Robert Schumann's wife who had her own acclaimed career despite the times in which she lived. Her works will stand alongside those from talented contemporary Australian women - Louise Denson, Sarah Hopkins, and Elena-Kats-Chernin, and American composers Gabriela Lena Frank and Jennifer Higdon.

The accomplished women of Muses Trio are Christa Powell (Topology), Louise King (Cello Dreaming) and Therese Milanovic (Topology), and they dedicate themselves to collaborating, creating and performing works with and by other women. At Reclaiming the Spirit, they'll be inviting you to get up close and mingle with composers and performers, and it'll no doubt be an inspiring evening of female celebration and solidarity.

At the Brisbane concert, local visual artist Sarah Hickey will also appear as will a special guest speaker from the U.N. Women National Committee, Australia.

Good to Know - There will be light snacks and a cash bar available.

Tickets: $15 - $25; Family $80 (Early bird booking until 19 Feb) - BOOK HERE
