Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries Costume Exhibition

Old Govt House

Fans of the TV series, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, don't miss seeing the amazing costumes in person at Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Costumes Exhibition at Old Government House before Sept 4, the last time they will be shown in Australia.

There’s no doubt private detective, Phryne Fisher, as played by Essie Davis, can certainly pull off a nice frock, and the costume department for the ABC show do a brilliant job recreating the glitz and glamour of the 1920s setting. This exhibition, presented by Every Cloud Productions, features the pearled, embroidered and painstakingly restored items from the third series of the show.

There are 50 items to marvel at by designer Marion Boyce, who picked up the 2014 AACTA Award for Best Costume Design in Television. Says Marion, “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is a costume designer’s dream job, and particularly for me as I have an abiding passion for the period.”

Marion says that the way the exhibition is set up allows visitors to be truly immersed in the 1920s period, plus there’re also behind-the-scenes insights into the work rooms of the show’s costume design department so you can appreciate how much work Marion and her talented team put into getting the authenticity of the period.
