Kitty Flanagan: Seriously?
Brisbane Powerhouse
Comedian Kitty Flanagan has made her mark with appearances on TV shows such as The Project and The Week with Charlie Pickering, and tried her acting chops in Working Title’s series, Utopia, where she held her own against Rob Sitch. Now she’s returning to stand-up comedy with her show Seriously? running at the Brisbane Powerhouse from 13 – 23 August.
Critics have been falling over themselves, with superlatives and five-star reviews coming thick and fast for the show, with Melbourne’s Herald Sun saying it’s “a joyful, side-splitting wonder” and the Adelaide Advertiser declaring, “Uncanny vocal characterisations and acting skills. Hilarious.”
Some of the subjects Kitty broaches in Seriously? are the inside scoop on dating gravediggers, cops and Cubans, and advice on how to keep a straight face when doctors use ‘proper’ words to describe body parts. There’s also the little known fact that dog people are apparently the new cat people. Kitty also asks why old people love salt so much and will teach the audience how to talk like an old person.
Her famous musical sister, ‘90s folk singer Penny Flanagan, will also make an appearance so all in all it’s going to be one heck of a funny evening with a very talented comedian. There’s a reason she was awarded Best Comedy at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, a BARRY Award nomination for Best Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and has also been nominated a couple of times for a Helpmann Award.
