Friday Night Laneways: Lumen Body

Brisbane

An awesome collaboration of dance, animation, sound and outdoor installation will impress you at Friday Night Laneways: LUMEN BODY, with free performances at the Brisbane Powerhouse, the Gasometer, Gasworks Plaza, and at South Bank River Quay Green.

It’s a free event that’s an initiative of Brisbane City Council, so if you’re at any of those locations on those dates, the invitation is to just drop by anytime between 5.30 and 7pm and watch the artists make the spaces come alive. Four contemporary dancers from Queensland’s premier dance company, Expressions Dance Company (EDC), will perform a striking interaction with Paul Van Opdenbosch’s experimental animations and electronic sound from musician and visual artist, Michelle Xen. Choreography is courtesy of EDC’s Elise May.

LUMEN BODY will be a visually and aurally stimulating event, with simple geometric sculptures illuminated by projected imagery which responds to the movement of the dancers’ bodies. Bodies, sounds and objects talk to each other and tell visual stories, creating a unique merging of the three art forms.

Need to know - Friday Night Laneways: LUMEN BODY can be experienced at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Friday Jul 1, The Gasometer on July 15 and South Bank's River Quay Green on July 29, from 5.30pm -7pm on all nights.
