Fleabag
Brisbane Powerhouse
Fresh from its Sydney Festival 2018 debut, DryWrite and Soho Theatre are bringing the acclaimed stage production of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s cult hit Fleabag to Brisbane.
Based on Waller-Bridge's BAFTA award-winning BBC series Fleabag (screening here on Amazon Prime), the show is an an uproariously funny and true account of a 20-something female living her sort of life.
Filthy, funny and unflinching, Fleabag’s modern anti-heroine tackles lust, grief and guinea pigs as she stumbles through a maze of social anxiety, disastrous job interviews and meaningless sex. Not to mention a guinea pig-themed café struggling to stay afloat.
Fans of Fleabag will be familiar with British writer and actor Waller-Bridge's unique brand of awkward, cringing laugh-out-loud pain.
"It's a real leveller," says Waller-Bridge. "I think everyone can relate to being in pain, and it can in some way make us feel less alone to see other people going through something painful. It can be cathartic."
Need to know - Fleabag is directed by Vicky Jones and stars Maddie Rice as the anti-heroine.
