Carmina Burana
Concert Hall Qpac
Choral and orchestral splendour in all its glory will be on show when the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and special guests present Carl Orff’s stirring Carmina Burana at QPAC's Concert Hall.
Carmina Burana is one of the best known choral works, and even if you don’t think you know it, yes, you do! From coffee commercials to Game of Thrones, the dramatic, percussive vocals are part of the aural landscape of our time. Carl Orff composed the work off a series of medieval Latin texts, with the result being ‘total theatre’ where music, words and movement work together for spectacular effect.
Leading QSO for this performance is acclaimed Carmina Burana conductor Jacques Lacombe. They’ll be joined by QSO Ensemble-in-Residence, The Australian Voices, as well as Soprano Milica Ilic, Tenor Henry Choo, Baritone Warwick Fyfe, and The Voices of Birralee. There will also be an A Capella program of compositions spanning 900 years of vocal traditions from The Australian Voices.
So, come along to revel in the work that covers the erratic nature of fortune, the promise of Spring, and other juicy subjects like passion, gluttony and lust!
