Broadway To Pavarotti
Qld Multicultural Centre
One of our very own Ten Tenors, Brisbane singer Roger Davy, will be paying tribute to arguably the most acclaimed tenor of all time, Luciano Pavarotti, in the show he’s put together titled Broadway to Pavarotti, to be held at the Queensland Multicultural Centre on Saturday, 10 October.
Broadway to Pavarotti will also have acclaimed soprano, Simone Nicole, on board – dancer, cabaret artist and opera singer who’s appeared in European productions of Chicago and The Buddy Holly Story as well as having appeared with Lionel Ritchie. To round out the cast of three there’s also local tenor, Iain Henderson, soon to appear in Opera Queensland’s Candide and who was a soloist in the BBC’s Dr Who Symphonic Spectacular.
“Broadway to Pavarotti has glamour, beautiful melodies, a touch of romance and of course comedy,” says Roger, describing the show that, besides the Pavarotti tribute, will feature well-loved melodies from Westside Story, Les Miserables, The Merry Widow, La Boheme, Carmen and Phantom of the Opera, alongside a riotous feud between two ego-driven tenors fighting for the attention of the soprano.
Roger is particularly thrilled to have the Queensland Multicultural Centre as the setting for the show, with its rich cultural heritage and diversity platform, saying, “We can’t wait to bring to Brisbane audiences some of the finest music from the worlds of opera and musical theatre.”
