Bands In Parks: 100 Years
Riverstage Brisbane
Bands in Parks is celebrating 100 years of entertaining Brisbane with a free fun-filled afternoon concert by Brisbane’s community bands at Riverstage.
The initiative of Brisbane City Council, which started in 1916, has been bringing free, weekly brass, concert, jazz, orchestral, steel and swing band performances to public parks across Brisbane since that time.
Several of the community bands associated with the Brisbane City Council, including brass and military, have been part of Brisbane’s cultural life since World War I.
Bands performing at the special Sunday afternoon event include Brisbane Municipal Concert Band, South Brisbane Federal Band, Brisbane Excelsior Band, University of Queensland Pipe Band, City of Brisbane Pipe Band and Irish Association Pipe Band.
Brisbane is invited to come along with families, friends and picnic in tow and enjoy a free afternoon of music just as local Brisbane communities have done for the past 100 years.
