The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace
Brisbane City Hall
Brisbane Symphony Orchestra with the Sunshine Coast Oriana Choir will perform Karl Jenkins’ work The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace at Brisbane City Hall on Sunday, November 11.
This special commemorative concert marks the centenary of the Armistice that ended World War 1. The Armed Man, written to commemorate the end of the war in Kosovo, has since become a work of reflection and tribute to those who have served.
The two hour tribute will include other short works reflecting the tragedy of war and sincere hope for peace, including Albinoni’s Adagio for Strings. One of the most loved pieces of orchestral music, it was used in many films but especially to great effect in the unforgettable final scene of the Australian film Gallipoli.
Join the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra for their fourth and final concert of the year on this most meaningful of days and enjoy the music and tributes to all of the armed service personnel.
