The 39 Steps
Twelfth Night Theatre
The 39 Steps, a fast-paced hilarious piece of classic theatre, is based on the spy thriller novel by John Buchan and film by Alfred Hitchcock and is currently the longest running comedy in London’s West End, where it has won multiple theatrical prizes from Tony to Helpmann and Olivier awards.
For 6 days Brisbane audiences can get the chance to see this not-to-be-missed Twelfth Night Theatre production, which features over 100 characters played by just 4 actors: the incredibly talented, Green Room nominated Mike Smith; Anna Burgess; British born star Sam Haft, and stage talent Michael Lindner.
The plot, which has it all - intrigue, danger, murder… a gorgeous woman and a heroic man, plays out as follows: Handsome hero Richard Hannay meets a mysterious woman, who reveals a plot to smuggle military secrets out of the country, but that night, she is found murdered in his apartment.
With the police and international spies hot on his heels, Hannay races to solve the mystery of the man with the missing finger, leading to heart-racing (and hilarious) adventures that involve death-defying escapes from planes, trains and automobiles with the beau.
Nice to know: This is one play that all of the family can enjoy, with packages available (2A+2C for $149.90).
