School Holidays with a NASA Astronaut

Mission Discovery 5 Day Space and STEAM Program is a unique opportunity for ordinary kids to do something extraordinary this Easter school holiday, taking place at Griffith University, Nathan Campus from April 14 to 18.

This program provides the inspiration and motivation vital to any teenager’s education and career. Kids currently in Years 6-10 will have the rare chance to spend 5 days learning from NASA astronaut, Tony Antonelli, and leading scientists in this life-changing experience.

Mission Discovery aims to spark passion and engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Design and Maths (STEAM) subjects at school and beyond. The program introduces young students to inspiring global mentors and prepares them to excel in the future.

During the 5-day program, participants will work in teams as research scientists to design an experiment to be conducted in space. The winning team’s experiment, as judged by the NASA panel, will be launched into space and conducted by astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

Mission Discovery, Griffith University, 5 day Space and STEM Program

Mission Discovery is a fully immersive experience in Space and STEAM, packed with hands-on activities. Participants will develop leadership, teamwork and public speaking skills, while learning about a range of exciting career paths in space and Science. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with new friends with similar passions.

NASA Astronaut & ISS Commander, Steven Swanson, said, “The Mission Discovery Program provides students with a rare opportunity to participate in something that is unimaginable for most young people. It helps them gain knowledge about space, and also enhances their self-belief and capabilities, such as critical and creative thinking. Who knows where this journey will take them?”

Presented by Latitude Group Travel, Australia’s leading provider of cutting-edge educational programs and the International Space School Education Trust (ISSET), Mission Discovery Space and STEAM Program is set to inspire the next generation of game changers, change makers, entrepreneurs and modern day space racers.
