Old Petrie Town

Whiteside

Revisit yesteryear at Old Petrie Town, a charming restored historic village spread across 48 acres of parklands.

Several significant buildings now reside at Old Petrie Town including The Old Schoolhouse, Piggott's Store, Todd's Cottage, two Heritage-listed chapels, as well as the original Petrie train station.

A highlight of any visit is the opportunity to wander around the historic village, where the general public are welcome to experience pre-1930s life, complete with a working blacksmith's forge, pottery barn, and an old fashioned lolly shop.

Every Sunday morning, Old Petrie Town hosts markets with stalls selling unique handicrafts, second hand books, fresh produce, and many other local goodies. Be sure to visit the boilerhouse which is filled with working vintage steam machinery or maybe take the kids for a ride in a vintage vehicle. The Steam Engine Shed or also known as the “Steamies” is also a must visit with working vintage steam engines that parade through the park on the third Sunday of each month.  Also not to be missed is the volunteer fire brigade museum filled with vintage memorabilia and fire engines and maybe take the kids for a ride in a vintage fire engine “Squirt”.

The 300 year old Moreton Bay Fig trees at Old Petrie Town provide a stunning backdrop for wedding photos while the welcoming verandahs of The Heritage Hotel offer an excellent place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. The Pine Rivers Heritage Museum is filled with fascinating memorabilia and is also definitely worth a visit.

There are many unique photo opportunities within the park and photography sessions need to be booked through the office Wed-Sat on 3285 5934.

In a nutshell - Restored historic village featuring old fashioned country-style markets every Sunday morning.
