It’s hard to say what takes centre stage here – the book shop or the bamboo and sheer-screened café on the deck. Either way both are an Oxford St magnet for locals and drop-ins as arguably it’s helped by the subtropical ambience of the café.
Breakfasts come in light (e.g. Sonoma muesli or fruit toast) or hot and lunches are an eclectic choice that includes mini gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, hand made sushi rolls and the delicious Vietnamese paper rolls served in a bamboo basket. There’s also a brief children’s menu as an adjunct to the excellent range of children’s titles available inside.
If visiting the café make time to browse the superb bookshop, a stalwart of the local community which besides stocking an excellent and extensive range of quality books of all genres regularly hosts local and international authors of note, runs book clubs and offers book chats to teachers, librarians and other groups with vested literary interests.
