Substation Vintage and Artisan Market is a charming once a month affair held inside the grand old Paddington substation, currently home to Hands on Art. AND SADLY IT HAS BEEN CLOSED DOWN BY COUNCIL AS OF FEBRUARY 2015.

Saturday morning shoppers in Paddington should be sure to take a detour to this mini market of splendid things in one of Brisbane’s iconic heritage listed spaces.

Over 2 split levels and spilling out onto the pavement are stalls of art, vintage and handmade fashion along with quality upcycled, recycled and eco friendly accessories and wares.

Amongst the offerings are whimsical fashion from Alice Nightingale, gorgeous leather wallets, tassell necklaces and cushions from Clone Designs, Meekz industrial style jewellery fashioned from recycled brass, copper and sterling silver, vintage and upstyled clothing from Love for Kitty and cards, coasters and pot stands made from recycled materials from Too Good to be New.

Also to buy are artworks from resident artists and vintage paper and hand-bound journals and handmade greeting cards from The Attic. Or for a souvenir with a difference, take home a decorative tattoo from local henna tattoo artist Amy.
