As cities go it would be hard to find one that has such a rich variety of free accessible hikes, tramps and strolls as Brisbane does.

Better still walking is by no means confined to those in possession of thick socks and hiking boots despite the abundance of great bush and rainforest walks.

Aspiring amblers can also take their pick from bay, city, garden, river, wetlands or venture further afield to one of the islands. Or closer to home, take an exploratory jaunt around one of the neighbourhoods.

The best time for walking are the drier cooler months of May to September although summer favours the bay and bush walks at higher altitudes.
