There’s barely an al fresco childhood activity that isn’t catered for in this state of the art playground and surrounds, with a cricket pitch, basketball half-court, rebound wall and a tangle of skating and BMX tracks.

But the jewel in the crown is the enormous cedar structure that would have to be the Buckingham Palace of cubby houses in which children of pre and school age can get lost (literally) for hours scarpering up inclines, traversing bridges, zooming down slides and taking command of the fairy or rocket control towers.

Surrounded by grassy hillocks and a eucalypt grove to one side and a short hike to Chermside Shopping Centre the other, it also contains barbecue facilities and an amenities block.
