The Low Road Cafe
Windsor
THE LOW ROAD CAFE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN DECEMBER 2021.
The Low Road Cafe, a super cute kitschy cafe nestled next to Windsor station, is a compulsory whistle stop for hungry commuters and anyone else passing through the area.
For here, behind some giant cut out pink palm trees, lies what would have to be the best food and coffee to be found on this side of the tracks.
Everything is cooked and baked on site, from the smoky beans that star in the signature Low Road breakfast to the daily cakes and sweets such as nectarine and sultana muffins or banana coconut bread.
Breakfast is an all day affair and while it's all delicious, stand outs are the Cajun Eggs Benny with cayenne and paprika hollandaise and greens on smoked cheese and sourdough, the Low Road smoky beans, avo, jalapeno, chipotle and cheese on sour dough, or, for something sweet try the Brunch Banoffee (warmed almond blondie with fresh banana cream, strawberries and ice-cream.
Lunch wise, in the cabinet there's usually a daily bake of the vegetable variety and paninis packed with fresh salads and veges (add chorizo).
There's also a small kids menu with items like Toad in the Hole with cheese and BBQ sauce, grilled cheese toast with BBQ sauce, ice-cream sundae with peanuts and cherry on top and flavoured milk.
Coffee is a well brewed Genovese and for something cold the fruity milkshakes are a must. The Low Road Cafe is also licensed, with beer and wine available.
The menu may have changed since our visit.
