Valley Multicultural Festival
& Youth Week 2018
The Valley Multicultural Festival brings an epic variety of live entertainment, dancing and musical performances showcasing a variety of cultures to the Chinatown Mall on 14 April from 5-10pm.
Presented by Brisbane City Council, this year the festival will have a youth focus, coinciding with the end of Youth Week (Apr 6-15).
Acts at this year’s Valley Multicultural Festival will include:
Samba Dancer Drummers with amazing Capoeira techniques, Brazilian martial arts mixing dance, fighting skills and acrobatics.
Matt Hsu with his one-person experimental folk orchestra and comedy act, featuring more than 20 instruments from around the world, a loop pedal and cheeky banter.
Fire shows featuring Tribe Fire who have redefined the iconic art of fire twirling, serving up a contemporary cultural fusion of unforgettable fire shows.
Toko Ton, showcasing the taiko, a quirky and entertaining combination of movement, rhythm and sensitivity delivered through the traditional Japanese energetic art form called 'Wadaiko' (Wa = Japanese/daiko = drum).
Also keeping the entertainment pumping will be African muso SK Simeon and Utopia Dance Crews performing Bollywood, hip-hop and K-Pop, plus many more.

This free all ages live music festival, featuring people from Music Industry College, is taking over key music venues in the heart of Brisbane's music precinct, from 12noon-7pm on the following dates and locations:
Fri Apr 6 – Winn Lane; Sat Apr 7 – Music Industry College; Thu Apr 12 – Winn Lane; Fri Apr 13 – Tym Guitars; Sat Apr 14 – Phase 4 Records, 4ZZZ car park.
A unique way to experience music and dance to your own beat, bust a move at the silent disco at The Pod in Brunswick Street Mall. Thu Apr 12 – 6-8pm.
Don’t miss out on this instalment showcasing some of Brisbane’s finest emerging musicians. The Pod, Brunswick Street Mall. Fri Apr 13 11.30am-5.30pm.
Other events (which may have booking limits) include: A Good Ol' Clothes Swap, Hackathon, Daggy Dancing, Maker Space activities, Back to the 80s yoga, YouTube 101 and Activisim 101.
