Hatch & Snout

Redland Bay

HATCH & SNOUT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Hatch & Snout is a cute, little eatery found in a bayside shopping centre in Redland Bay, serving breakfast and lunch daily with dinner service three nights a week.

Open daily from 6am, there's more than just eggs and bacon (or hatch and snout) on the menu. Popular options include corn fritters served with sour cream and tomato relish on a bed of rocket, house-made savoury mince served on toasted sourdough, French toast (thick-cut raisin toast served with fresh seasonal fruit, maple syrup and cream), and vegetarian stack - two poached eggs, sautéed mushrooms, potato rostis, grilled tomato, haloumi and avocado topped with tomato relish.

After 12, the fare ranges from juicy burgers and Jack Pots (baked potatoes filled with bacon, cheese, sour cream and coleslaw) to Nacho Problem (corn chips topped with Mexican mince, melted cheese, fresh salsa, sour cream and sweet chilli) and Quebec n Snout - maple bacon sandwich, toasted and dusted with icing sugar.

Healthier options include a tasty tuna and rice salad (mesculin lettuce with corn, cucumber, spanish onion, tomato and brown rice tossed together with tuna and lemon mustard dressing), and Bunga Bowl - vermicelli noodles tossed with fresh mint, coriander, carrot, cucumber, lettuce and chilli with house-made marinaded hoi son chicken.

Thursday through Saturday, the café opens for dinner serving top-notch fare like slow-cooked lamb shanks served on rustic mash, Moroccan beef simmered in squash, prunes and chickpeas served on cous cous, fresh gnocchi tossed with house-made pesto, and crispy skin salmon served with creamy mash, broccolini and burnt thyme butter.

Nice to know - Hatch & Snout is child-friendly with bacon and eggs for breaky and their choice of cheese burger, cheesy pasta, spaghetti bolognese or crumbed chicken for dinner.
