An old fashioned lowset brick bowling alley complete with swirly-patterned carpet, the Kedron AMF is the way ten pin bowling used to be, albeit with beer and wine for sale and screens playing video hits above the alleys. (Parents fear not – clips are child friendly with nary a writhing scantily clad female matchstick in sight.)
Those who haven’t been bowling since the seventies will find it something of a new ball game thanks to the raised sides of the alleys, with gutter balls a thing of the past. And when children tire of thumping heavy coloured balls down narrow corridors there are plenty of old-fashioned arcade games to occupy them and empty parental wallets.
The in house café makes a passable coffee and has snacks such as hot dogs, sandwiches and cakes to mix and match with beer or wine.
Prices include shoes and are roughly $15 per adult and $13 for concessions per game. Arrive before midday on a Sunday and a family of 4 can play for $30. Arrive after 8pm Wed and Sun nights and adults can play 3 games for $15. There are other on the spot and seasonal specials too – check with AMF.
