Rapunzel
Brisbane Arts Theatre
Rapunzel, the last theatre production for the year for the Brisbane Arts Theatre, brings the classic age old fairy tale to life on stage in a show that is guaranteed to delight children young and old.
Captured as a child by the wicked witch Gothel, Rapunzel is kept in a tower and only freed from her prison by a handsome prince Gunther.
He promises to show her the world but their plans are thwarted when Gothel hears of them and cuts off Rapunzel’s long golden hair just as Prince Gunther is climbing it and he falls and is blinded.
Meantime Rapunzel is banished by the witch to the Land of Eternal Winter, thinking she will never see her prince again.
Yet Gunther, accompanied by his loyal page Rolf and Rapunzel’s white cat friend Pandora, sets off to find Rapunzel, pursued by the witch’s wicked goblins all the way. First they must summons the courage to brave The Forest of No Return and its terrible dangers, and convince the powerful Goblin King to help them find Rapunzel, the prince’s lost love.
