Hands-on Holiday Intensive

Museum of Brisbane is holding its first ever School Holiday Art Immersion Program this Easter, for children aged 8-15 years.

Under the guidance of experienced art teachers, participants have a chance to get hands-on with a creative program designed to develop unique art skills and gain an appreciation for art and architecture.

School Holiday Art Immersion Program

Daily activities will include patterns, clay, paint, palimpsest, 3D construction and making steampunk accessories, with children taking home their special artworks at the end of the day.

Individual Programs run for approx 6 hrs a day at a cost of $80pp:

School Holiday Art Immersion Program

Patterns & Prints - Children will explore City Hall and Museum of Brisbane before creating relief prints inspired by the unique and heritage listed-architecture and interiors (Week 1, Apr 3).

What's My Brisbane? - Using clay and paint, children will create unique self-portraits using imagery and information gathered from completing interactive quizzes in MoB's award winning exhibition, 100% Brisbane. (Week 1, Apr 4)

Palimpsest Layers - Inspired by Australian Indigenous artist Robert Andrew's recent artwork, Ground Up, children will learn how to create a palimpsest artwork with layers of text and image.(Week 1, Apr 5), (Week 2, Apr 10)

Self Portrait Puppets - Children will create a moving puppet using re-purposed materials such as plastics, wire and cardboard paired with 3D construction techniques, inspired by the portraits in the latest exhibition Sit. Pose. Snap. (Week 1, Apr 6) (Week 2, Apr 11)

Kinetic Art Intensive - Participants get to explore the intricacies and engineering involved in creating a moving artwork inspired by the works of Australian Indigenous artist Robert Andrew. (Week 1, Apr 7) (Week 2, Apr 12)

Steampunk Accessories - Inspired by the 19th century fashions featured in Sit. Pose. Snap. learn how to create accessories in a steampunk style. (Week 2, Apr 13)
