The Funatorium: Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Playhouse Qpac

Tricks, tunes, tea and loads of fun – all to be had at The Funatorium: Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, part of QPAC’s fabulous SummerSet summer program for kids, at the Playhouse, January 3 – 13.

Get your hats on and be ready for a whacky ride as Play School’s Monica Trapaga and a cast of amazing circus performers perform this high-energy show inspired by Lewis Carroll’s enduring tale, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

It’s got acrobatics, circus, singing, dancing and even roller skates! Directed by former Circus Oz Artistic Director, Mike Finch, The Funatorium: Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is described as “a delightfully chaotic cabaret for kids…”

Some of the highlights include precision juggling of everyday objects by Daniel Gorski; comic hula stylings of international festival comedian, Eloise Green; jaw-dropping hand-balances of Casey Douglas; aerial surrealism of Marianna Joslin; and the extraordinary strength and nerve of a man called Mozes.

This crazy tea party will certainly live up to its name of The Funatorium: Mad Hatter's Tea Party. And of course there’ll be the Alice in Wonderland old favourites – The Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts and The Mad Hatter.

Originally a Sydney Opera House production, with a sold-out season there, this show “will leave audiences delighted and dazzled” according to Australia Stage. And if your little mad hatters need to stock up on some tea party goodies before the show, the Playhouse foyer will have popcorn, popper juices, family-friendly sandwich packs, fruit salad cups, fruit slushies and cookies available for purchase.
