Sparklab

Queensland Museum

SparkLab is the new incarnation of Queensland Museum’s Sciencentre, featuring 40 interactive exhibits across three fun-filled zones to bring out the inner scientist of all ages.

The three zones and their highlights are:

Our World and How it Works – Explore the Earth’s place in the wider universe and how it impacts our daily lives and investigate how matter moves, behaves and changes. In this zone, which features a giant mock science lab, you can Touch the Lightning and grow colourful ice crystals by heating up ice and watching it freeze again.

How Do We Perceive Our World? – Play with light, colour and sound and question whether everyone perceives things the same or differently. Here you can create Splashes of Sound, choosing different frequencies and wave patterns then make multiple coloured shadows and freeze them.

How can we change the world and what does this change do? – Explore energy, forces and structures and create, design and build to find solutions. Highlights in this section include the ability to design and build your own flying machine, and lift a fridge or yourself in the Pulley Up.
